HEALTH

Yes. We advise you to consult your specialist if you are unsure of your suitability to any skincare products.

Some medications cause skin irritation, skin thinning, allergic reactions or sensitivity to ultra violet light.

When the medication first enters the body the immune system mistakenly responds by creating specific disease fighting antibodies called immunoglobulin. These antibodies recognise the medication as a foreign substance. When the drug is taken these antibodies spring to act, releasing large amounts of histamine in the attempt to expel the medication from the body. Histamine is a powerful chemical that can effect the skin in many ways.

Allergies develop when you either touch, inhale or ingest a substance that your immune system identifies as foreign. The resulting chain reaction of antibodies, mast cells and chemicals like histamine causes inflammation to appear on the skin or inside the body.

If you are suffering from any symptoms that might be caused by an allergy either seek medical advice or find a suitable nutritional specialist to test you r intolerances. There are many different tests available. Over the counter antihistamines are available for short term relief from allergies. Seek the pharmacists advice.

SUN EXPOSURE

The Sun is the No.1 largest cause of accelerated ageing, known as Photo-Ageing. Exposure to sunlight (ultra violet rays) causes oxidative stress, a series of harmful reactions damaging your skin cells, resulting in the destruction of collagen and elastin, forming unwanted lines and wrinkles. UV radiation can also overstimulate the pigmentation cells (melanocytes) to cause brown spots we typically term as age spots. On a positive note, moderate exposure to UV stimulates the production of Vitamin D which protects the body against some diseases.

Use a stable concentration of VITAMIN C to provide antioxidant protection from free radicals caused by ultra violet exposure DAILY

STRESS

Stress can cause our bodies hormones and chemicals to spike, affecting the skin and how it functions; oil production increases which can cause breakouts, you may also experience acne. Histamine a chemical produced within the skin triggers inflammation, which may show in the form of acne, eczema, psoriasis or rosacea.

In the fast paced world in which we live it is sometimes difficult to reduce stress. However, small changes to your lifestyle may produce positive results for your skin. Taking time to relax, read, mediate, exercise and removing processed foods, too much alcohol and other stimulants will help in many areas of your life.

SMOKING

There are over 4,000 toxins in one cigarette. Smoking produces a mass of damaging free radicals that cause DNA destruction, making you more susceptible to ageing and disease. Toxins have the ability to deplete the skin of vital vitamins essential for collagen production, therefore accelerating the development of winkles. The toxin compounds in cigarettes reduce  the flow of oxygen to the cells, causing the skin to thin and decreasing the skin’s ability to wound heal. Smoking depletes Vitamin C in the body and restricts oxygen to the skin. Smoking impairs healing and causes a yellow, sallow look to the skin and may also cause comedones.

Consider the longterm use of smoking for your health and wellbeing.

HYDRATION

Water is essential to maintain the balance of body fluids. Your body is composed of 60-70% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of salvia, transportation of nutrients and maintenance of body temperature.

CLIMATE

Whether it is cold and dry, hot and humid or your environment is air conditioned or centrally heated, your climate will affect your skin. Extremes in weather can also exacerbate some existing skin conditions.

Colder temperatures and low humidity can dry out your skin. Bitterly cold winds can also strip moisture from exposed skin causing sensitivity and even dilated capillaries.

Warmer climates with heat and humidity can cause your skin to sweat leaving you more prone to breakouts. The heat can also lead to other skin problems. Both air-conditioning and heating eliminate moisture from your environment depriving your skin of essential water.

Consuming more WATER will support the temperature changes in your skin.

Provide your skin with a concentrated form of HYALURONIC ACID, in all climate conditions.

Do you suffer from any of the following skin conditions?

Rosacea is often experienced between the age of 30-50 but not inclusive. It is not known what actually causes this condition.

Symptoms include redness, flushing, swelling, papules, pustules and superficial dilated blood vessels.

The condition is stimulated by climate change, food/drink intolerance and stress.

Symptoms of Eczema include itchy, dry and often cracked, sore skin that may bleed. It has been linked to genetics but allergies are a contributing factor.

The condition is stimulated by climate change, food/drink intolerance and stress but also by harsh detergent/soap products.

Acne is commonly linked to changes in hormones, lifestyle, allergies and/or hereditary. Acne symptoms can include blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin, dry skin, pustles, papules, nodules, cysts and scarring.

It occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. Acne cannot be cured but can successfully be managed. Medical support may be necessary if skincare alone cannot provide manageable results.

Psoriasis is an auto-immune condition characterised by patches of abnormal skin. These patches are typically red, itchy with silvery scales. It is a genetic disease triggers by environmental factors.

A food intolerance test will help identify allergies in hope to reduce/manage any food related inflammation.

Your medical practitioner will be able to support you through topical/oral preparations.

Alternatively, if you are looking to support your skin alongside medical treatment or would like to try the non-medical route first then follow my TREATMENT GUIDE for maximum results to manage these conditions.

INTRINSIC ageing is the natural, genetic process your skin goes through as we age. It is the process we have little control over.

EXTRINSIC ageing we can control by focusing on changing our lifestyle.
